Jens Bayer is a deep tech entrepreneur and commercial leader with a proven track record in the bioprocessing industry. He harbors a passion for leveraging technology and data to empower scientists in synthetic biology. Currently, Jens serves as the Chief Commercial Officer at Scientific Bioprocessing, Inc (SBI). In this role, Jens is committed to digitally simplify bioprocessing, focusing on miniaturized smart sensors and data analytics for bioprocess development and scale-up. Previously, Jens co-founded aquila biolabs, a pioneering German startup specializing in sensors and data analytics for upstream bioprocessing. Under his leadership, the company experienced rapid growth and ultimately achieved a successful exit, being acquired by Scientific Bioprocessing, Inc. Jens holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from RWTH Aachen University in Germany and a Master of Science in Bioentrepreneurship from the prestigious Karolinska Institute and Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden. Prior to embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, Jens garnered invaluable experience in the life sciences industry through roles in consulting with Bayer Business Consulting and Booz & Company, as well as in industry positions with GE Healthcare Life Sciences (Cytiva) and Miltenyi Biotech.
