Maverick BioMetals extracts lithium, other battery metals, and rare earth elements from hard rock using engineered enzymes. Our process is more cost effective and greener (reduced environmental contaminants and CO2 emissions) than the current acid roasting extraction method.

The role

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Chief of Staff to support our COO, Jesse Evans. This role is designed for a proactive individual who can eventually step into the COO's shoes when needed. You will oversee various responsibilities including, but not limited to, exploring different avenues for the commercialization of our technology, building and managing client relationships, project management, and some administrative duties. This role will be varied as the company needs change, and requires someone with an adaptable go-getter attitude who is excited to get in on the ground floor of a quickly growing seed-stage startup.

Key Responsibilities

Client engagement & partnership development

• Develop, maintain and manage customer and commercial relationships
• Research, identify and develop new business opportunities
• Represent the COO in meetings with clients and partners
• Act as a liaison between the COO and external parties
• Manage customer projects, including coordination between the technical teams and operations teams, ensuring timely deliverables and communication to the executive team
• Support the COO in identifying and securing new partnership opportunities
• Attend industry conferences and events to promote the company and its technology
  
  

Operational & administrative support

• Collaborate with internal teams to align on company goals and strategies
• Support the COO in the development and execution of business strategies
• Help coordinate and manage special projects and initiatives
• Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence
• Own new responsibilities as we continue to scale
  
  

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in business development, management consulting, investment banking, customer success, and/or project management
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
• Eager to learn and take on new challenges
• Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Willingness to travel and participate in industry events
• Nice to haves: experience in a client-facing role; experience or interest in mining, mineral processing, and/or renewable energy experience
