We are seeking a Sample Management expert who will play a pivotal role in the operational success of our organization by implementing and managing sophisticated inventory systems. This on-site position will be at our company headquarters in Berkeley, CA reporting to the Associate Director of Supply Chain. This individual will ensure the efficient implementation and coordination of sample management activities across various departments including Quality Control, Translational Sciences, Analytical Development, Supply Chain, Process Development, and Manufacturing. Additionally, the Sample Management Manager will liaise with external specialty labs and handle the booking of shipments, ensuring that our high standards of quality and timeliness are met.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive inventory systems for the tracking, storage, and handling of samples across different stages of the development and manufacturing processes
  • Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams including Quality Control, Bioinformatics, Translational, Analytical Development, Supply Chain, Process Development, and Manufacturing to ensure seamless sample management
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external specialty labs, overseeing the logistics of sample shipment and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Develop and implement SOPs for sample management, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of sample handling, training, and support to ensure operational excellence
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to support audit activities and address any findings related to sample management
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to sample management, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Stay with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to sample management, and recommend strategic adjustments to processes and systems
  • Maintain testing schedule turnaround time

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific field
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in sample management or a related field
  • Experience with GxP laboratories and samples
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing inventory or sample management systems
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to sample management
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners

Nice-to-haves:

  • Previous sample management experience in Cell Therapy

Caribou compensation and benefits include:

  • Comprehensive compensation package, which includes competitive salary, bonus, and equity for all employees
  • Salary Range: $125,000.00 to $150,000.00 - This represents the present low and high end of the Company’s pay range for this position.  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, skill, experience, and performance.
