Director of Operations
Our mission is to enable pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to bring more cell and gene therapies to patients, by dramatically increasing the efficiency of viral vector production and reducing the cost of manufacturing. 64x Bio was founded by world renowned scientists and experts in gene therapy from Harvard and the Wyss Institute. Our rapidly growing and cross disciplinary team consists of creative bioengineers and synthetic biologists working alongside data scientists to create cutting-edge solutions to problems in gene therapy.
The Director of Operations will join during a transformative period in 64x Bio’s growth and will help to create the environment, culture, systems and processes to support the company and its employees through this phase.
Responsibilities
Laboratory operations: Overseeing the lab operations function and leading the setup of up all associated processes (e.g., ordering and procurement, inventory management, etc.) including some facilities support. Playing a lead role in the design, expansion, and build-out of a new lab, as well as the strategic and financial aspects of these initiatives.
General operations: Implementing business processes, procedures, templates, and systems to support the company through rapid growth.
Business operations: Establishing systems and processes for managing contracts with partners, vendors, employees, etc., and leading other business operations activities.
Office administration: Overseeing issues and addressing needs relating to facilities and office administration.
Information technology: Managing outsourced provider(s) on all IT related issues.
Special Projects: Partnering closely with Leadership to drive other critical strategic initiatives to support the day-to-day growth and success of the company, including issues relating to hiring, onboarding, vendor management, etc.
About You
Bachelor’s degree, with an MBA preferred.
12+ years of experience in laboratory operations (biotech / pharma).
Extensive experience overseeing the laboratory operations function and the buildout of all associated processes.
Must possess a process driven mindset and be driven by creating optimized processes across the operations function.
Self-motivated, pragmatic, proactive, and able to multitask.
Experience leading broad operational roles to support the growth and maturity of a startup company.
Strong managerial qualities, strong attention to detail, and extremely strong organizational skills.
Ability to operate with urgency both on your own and through the leadership of others, understanding that speed often defines success in a start-up environment.
Expertise in Google Suite and Mac OSX as well as proficiency in Windows systems, especially Excel.
