Job Summary
The Senior Sales Manager will generate new and nurture existing key client relationships. With technical and commercial depth in the synthetic biology, biotechnology, and/or related science discipline they will collaborate and create innovative solutions with their clients that meet the needs of their objectives, through SynBioBeta’s year-round platform of events, research and digital media.
In partnership with the Executive Team, this role will suggest new commercially viable products to drive organizational revenues and positioning as the premier community for synthetic biology. The Senior Sales Manager will be an external, market-facing leader for the brand.
Key Responsibilities
Meet and/or Exceed Annual Sales Goal and Key KPIs
Prospect, seek and generate new business opportunities.
Increase customer retention rates and average deal size.
Manage pipeline and deliver proposals that secure contracted revenue.
Collaborate with the Sales & Business Development team on the sales pipeline and proposals.
Partner with the Founder, and across the team, on the “voice” of the brand and ensure alignment with product portfolio.
Customer-centric approach, including regular client communication and discovery calls to keep on pace with the evolution of their business needs and where we can provide solutions.
Input into strategic reporting and dashboards that leverage existing and new data sets and serve as a tool for understanding the industry, the customers, current and future trends, and performance metrics.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
5+ years of demonstrated professional experience and deep technical acumen in the synthetic biology, biotechnology, and/or related science discipline with strength in understanding company structures from start-ups to Fortune 500, preferably global reach.
5+ years of sales experience in B2B content and information businesses.
Demonstrated experience achieving revenue targets through diversification and growth of product offering.
Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Proven leadership skills with strong cross-departmental management skills.
Experience working at a high-growth, entrepreneurial business.
Proficiency in Google Suite and CRM software.
