What we're looking for

We are seeking an exceptional computational biologist to join our R&D team and establish an in-silico modelling platform to accelerate the development of a high performing strain producing isoprenoids at industrial scale.

We post education and experience requirements along with a salary range for transparency and to allow candidates to have a sense of our expectations. If it doesn’t match perfectly, don’t hesitate to apply, we are flexible!

Responsibilities

  • Model new metabolisms at the genome scale and new-to-nature synthetic pathways in microbial strainsAs an extension, model the fermentor environment for industrial production

  • Integrate important quantitative metabolomics data in order to model, predict impact and suggest targets for optimising metabolic fluxes in order to increase production of isoprenoids

  • Work in a "design-build-test-learn” cycle with the wet lab teams to test pathways and develop solutions to overcome challenges

Qualifications

Hard skills

  • Proficiency in at least one data-related programming language (Python, R, SQL)

  • Ability to build data pipelines to integrate multiple data sources

  • Experience in modelling metabolic and biological processes:

    • Flux balance analysis, metabolic flux analysis

    • Genome sequence analysis including comparative genomics, genome assembly, alignment, gene structure and gene function annotation methods and tools

    • Enzyme kinetics, chemical data

  • Ability to interface with the wet lab team

  • Bonus: experience in CO2 fixation/reduction and C1/C2 metabolism

  • Bonus: experience modelling industrial fermentation

  • Bonus: professional experience in startup or industry

Soft skills

  • Great team player

  • Autonomy, action-oriented mindset, ability to take initiatives

  • Optimism and adaptability

  • Clear communication in English

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Creativity and scientific curiosity
