At Enduro Genetics we have developed EnduroSense, a breakthrough technology leveraging synthetic biology to rewire the growth objectives of living cells. The EnduroSense technology is used in cell-based expression systems and production strains to deliver higher titer, rate and yields at scale.

We're searching for a Director of microbial strain engineering to catalyze our expansion and growing number of projects, delivering value to our clients’ bioprocesses at scale.

Responsibilities

• Grow, lead, manage, and coach high performing R&D teams

• Develop research strategies to deliver key milestones

• Oversight of client projects to ensure progress and delivery of results

• Work with project leads to generate and report against deliverables & timelines

• Provide expert technical input within projects

Requirements

• A PhD in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology or a similar relevant area

• 8+ years of industry experience developing strains for bioprocesses (pharma/industrial)

• Excellent R&D project management skills incl. team mentorship

• Deep technical knowledge in production strain technology, recombinant protein expression or metabolite production

• A proven track record in strain engineering of microbes for process/product development

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication

• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of a growth company

Nice to have experience

• Working within a startup or agile small-scale commercial R&D team

• Understanding corporate strain/process development paths for bioprocesses

• Design of experiments

• Analysis of NGS and related data science

• Small scale automation

• Fermentation science or its interface from strain engineering

• Working within pharma GMP settings
