Job description

We are seeking to hire an innovative and highly motivated chemist to join Downstream Purification process development group of natural and chemical products. The candidate is expected to have a background in organic chemistry and natural product chemistry and extraction to be able to conduct extraction and purification, and characterization of small molecules. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems, are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Routinely perform extraction, purification to generate small amount of sample and perform process optimization to meet the project target goals for purity and recovery yields.
  • Occasional structural characterization, and organic chemical reaction if needed.
  • Routinely analyze and identify products utilizing a range of analytical techniques, such as HPLC, GC, TLC, GC-MS and LC-MS.
  • Work with cross functional groups to deliver purified products timely.
  • Keep accurate, legible, and complete records of all experiments and observations, and to provide essential data for industry manufacturing.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to the project team.
  • Exhibit a high level of safety awareness and conduct lab operations in a safe manner.

Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in organic chemistry with a minimum of 1-2 years on industrial experience is preferred.
  • Strong background in downstream purification techniques (centrifugation, filtration, evaporation, column separation, distillation etc.) and analysis preferred.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques for intermediates and final product detection such as spectrophotometers, HPLC, GC, LC-Mass preferred.
  • Must be motivated and able to work under limited supervision while also possessing good communication and teamwork skills.
