The company’s advanced CRISPR-based platform, consisting of an instrument, reagents, and software, offers a fully automated workflow that enables multiplexed, trackable editing of cells at an unprecedented scale. Inscripta’s mission is to enable scientists to realize the full potential of biology. Due to rapid growth and recent commercialization, Inscripta has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer/ Staff Software Engineer located in either our Pleasanton, CA or Boulder, CO office.


Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer/ Staff Software Engineer with experience in instrument control, GUIs and full-stack development using networked client/server systems. This person will be responsible for the development and enhancement of instrument control and software used with custom laboratory automation systems as well as development of laboratory information management systems (LIMS). The ideal candidate will have experience with creating graphical user interfaces using Windows and web-based tools, implementing software-based device control algorithms and developing 3-tier client-server systems for data handling.


Responsibilities:

  • Designing and architecting solutions involved in the control of custom lab automation equipment from the low-level device control to interface GUI levels of instrument control.
  • Gathering requirements, developing system state models and implementing software to meet instrument control needs.
  • Implementing/updating software to control motors, pumps, syringes, temperature control units, and other lab automation equipment.
  • Developing software to enable user interaction with instrumentation using modern GUI design methodologies.
  • Developing software which will enable field service engineers to troubleshoot, repair and test laboratory automation solutions.
  • Developing software which can send data from instruments to server-based backend system for storage, queueing and retrieval.
  • Developing backend server systems which can manipulate workflow processing queues and perform data management tasks in laboratory workflow system.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or Life Sciences is preferred.
  • 6+ years developing software with skills in OOP using C/C++, C# and/or Java for instrument control and user interface.
  • For the Staff Software Engineer level, candidates would need at least 10 years of relevant work experience. Salary will be based on experience.
  • Experience with developing/using modern interface GUI and visual components in PC controlled systems.
  • Experienced in developing/using network services and instrument APIs for exchange of data/logs/systems status.
  • Full-stack software development utilizing 3-tier systems for data handling from client to server to database storage systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing network services APIs for data sharing, storage and retrieval.
  • Strong math and logic skills.
  • Understanding of laboratory processes and workflow systems is a plus.
  • Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed.

Inscripta offers a competitive base salary, bonus plan, benefits package, 401k match and an attractive equity program to all team members. Starting Salary Range: $130,000 to $190,000 per year. This salary range is provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
