Staff Data Scientist, DNA Products

Twist Bioscience synthesizes genes from scratch, known as “writing” DNA. Just as children learn to both read and write, the next phase of development for the genomics revolution is the ability to write DNA.

Responsibilities

● Build machine learning models to predict the outcome of customer orders from data,
including bioinformatics data
● Collaborate with other technical teams to integrate predictive analytics tools into our
production systems
● Communicate risks and mitigation strategies to executive leadership
● Work with lab staff to translate business questions into data science problems
● Contribute to the development of a data-driven decision making culture

Requirements

● 5+ years of industrial data science experience
● A Masters’ or PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related field
● Demonstrated ability to complete the full predictive analytics lifecycle from project
ideation, data collection and engineering, analytics, modeling, and deployment
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Strong data visualization skills
● Expertise with the Python data science ecosystem
● Experience with cloud- and distributed computing systems such as Amazon Web
Services and Spark
