Event Producer and Marketing Manager

The successful candidate is a first-rate project manager who puts customer service first. S/he will assess our team’s existing resources and knowledge, then put it to use in executing and improving upon our world-class event. The successful candidate also has proven experience with event budgeting and developing event marketing campaigns. We seek a curious and active team member who wants to learn more about the goals and motivations of our organization and our sponsors, in order to suggest ways to enhance the event’s success. Over time, the ideal candidate will also have the opportunity to grow into new and expanded roles. With SynBioBeta leadership, assess and develop existing resources, requirements, and event objectives
Develop and maintain the event project plan and timeline, including budget and personnel needs
Prepare budgets and ensure adherence
Develop and manage the marketing plan
Lead promotional activities for the event
Prepare weekly status reports
Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
Help ensure fulfillment of event-related deliverables to our sponsors
Task and oversee event staff, caterers, volunteers, etc.
Approve all aspects before the day of the event
Ensure event is completed smoothly; resolve problems as they arise
Prepare final event report with KPIs
Requirements
Proven experience as an event manager
Skilled in project management; experience with Asana a plus
Knowledge of KPIs and marketing techniques for event management
Computer savvy; proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Slack, etc.
Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
Excellent organizational skills
A knack for problem-solving
Customer-service orientation
A team player with ability to lead on some projects and follow on others
Comfort working in a very high-paced work setting with dynamic timelines, priorities, and deliverables
BS/BA degree strongly preferred (PR, marketing, event/hospitality management or related field is a big plus)

Coordinate executive communications, including taking calls, responding to, tagging and triaging emails and interfacing with clients
Track and help prioritize CEO workload and follow up with written tasks assigned to others
Remind co-workers of upcoming reports and deadlines and assist when necessary. Communicate status of completion as needed
Schedule meetings and appointments and manage CEO calendar and travel itinerary
Manage receipts and expenses for CEO

Sales Support Specialist
Full-timeTitle: Inside Sales and Support SpecialistJob SummaryThe Specialist works closely with the Founder / CEO and the General Manager to ensure we capture and develop all business opportunities. Our current products include sponsorship, ticket sales, advertising, job postings, sponsored content, video products, etc. The Specialist will also be responsible for effectively managing the sales process and pipeline, and liaising with team members to drive opportunities to a close. The Specialist will be responsible for providing customer service by promptly answering emails, assessing requests and providing timely, correct answers. The Inside Sales and Support Specialist is required in the office, located in Pleasant Hill, California.Responsibilities and duties to include but not limited to:
Communicate and interact with a wide range of companies and organizations to introduce them to our services, digital media products, events and sponsorship opportunities.
Plan, prioritize, manage and conduct prospecting and sales activities within the assigned list of accounts.
Managing, drafting and finalizing sponsorship proposals
Perform outbound sales activities such as lead follow-up, sales qualifications and offer solutions to help our customers understand SynBioBeta products.
Maintain and manage sales process and pipeline from prospect to close.
Meet or exceed sales targets/objectives and activity metrics for outbound calls, appointments and opportunities identified. Close inside sales deals and achieve customer satisfaction by understanding the needs and expectations of the customers and provide relevant solutions. Work closely with, and support, the Field Sales team on account strategy, demand generation activities, and results. Provide assistance in resolving field sales inquiries when needed.
Engage with customers, establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
Find and qualify new leads, including detailed needs analysis, product overview, and potential solution fit.
Organize and execute specialized projects such as call-out campaigns, data updates, and creating presentations.
Network with industry influencers, professional associations, and existing clients.
Establish close working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Maintain current and accurate account, contact, and opportunity information in Salesforce.com (SFDC), and as needed, suggest process improvements for SFDC based on daily observations of current requests.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, a related field or equivalent work experience.

We work with a number of creative agencies and individuals on a contract basis and are now looking to complement this with a full time in-house hire.While SynBioBeta continues and grows our popular annual Global Synthetic Biology Summit, we are also increasing the quality and quantity of our editorial and video content across email, web, print, and social media channels. SynBioBeta’s media platform aims to engage and activate our community around the latest developments and trends in how synthetic biology is transforming how we build, heal, feed, and fuel the world. The Associate Producer is a key team member in achieving this goal.The scope of our needs are in video, editorial and graphic design so the ideal candidate would have experience in doing or managing one or more of the following:In video, the Associate Producer will drive the production of video projects by managing schedules, resources, and content production, working with customers and team members to coordinate effort and end results. The Associate Producer will go on location and serve as the primary videographer, or oversee production while providing videography support.In editorial, the Associate Producer will be tasked with authoring original articles, web copy, and/or video scripts.In web & print design, the Associate Producer will work with the SynBioBeta team to develop and implement designs as needed across our digital and print channel, serving as our in-house designer and graphics producer as much as possible.The successful candidate has a diverse portfolio in areas such as video production, science writing/editing, and print & web design.
