AsymBio Begins Construction on New Fengxian R&D Building to Enhance Biologics Services

AsymBio, a biologics-centric Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) and a subsidiary of Asymchem Group, has officially commenced construction of its new R&D building at the Shanghai Fengxian site. This project is a significant infrastructure advancement aimed at bolstering AsymBio's capabilities in the biologics CDMO arena and solidifying the Fengxian site as a pivotal development-and-manufacturing center.

Initiated in May 2026, the construction is set for completion and commissioning in the latter half of 2027. The eight-story structure will cover around 2,500 square meters of land and will offer nearly 20,000 square meters of gross floor area, adhering to green and low-carbon construction standards. This facility is designed to facilitate cell line development, along with upstream and downstream process development, conjugation process development, drug product development, and extensive analytical development services.

Strategically located within AsymBio's Fengxian site, the new building will be positioned next to the clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities for antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Upon becoming operational, it will operate closely with the site's production lines, aiming to streamline scale-up processes and commercial manufacturing while reducing overall project timelines.

Importantly, the Fengxian R&D building will serve as the foundational physical space for the AccPCC (Accelerated PCC platform), an integrated R&D acceleration platform designed to expedite the development timeline from lead to preclinical candidate (PCC) selection. The AccPCC platform, built around an end-to-end, AI-enabled workflow, links early R&D and CMC with nonclinical evaluation and early clinical translation. It offers comprehensive technical support that includes lead optimization, developability assessment, and early-stage customized CMC strategy for global biotech partners.
