Bios Life Emerges from Stealth with $25M and Partners with Tempus to Personalize Cancer Screening and Surveillance

Bios Life launches with significant funding to innovate cancer care through personalized screening and surveillance solutions.

Bios Life, an innovative AI-driven cancer surveillance company, has officially launched from stealth mode with a substantial $25 million in seed funding. This funding round was spearheaded by Redmile, Vsquared Ventures, and Kindred Capital, with additional support from a collective of prominent healthcare and technology investors across the US and Europe.

The company is focused on creating a personalized surveillance strategy aimed at assisting high-risk individuals and cancer survivors, two demographics that often receive fragmented and reactive care. In the US alone, over 40 million people are either at increased risk for cancer or are cancer survivors. With more than 40% of individuals projected to be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, and over 30% of those cases identified at stages 3 or 4, Bios Life is addressing a critical need with its predictive care platform. This platform integrates advanced multi-modality foundation models with direct patient care, ensuring comprehensive support for these underserved populations. Additionally, the company has announced a strategic partnership with Tempus, a leader in AI-driven precision medicine, to enhance the training and validation of its predictive models.

Bios Life's advanced AI technology platforms enable the delivery of tailored cancer surveillance and holistic supportive care for each individual's unique circumstances. This results in the creation of a digital twin for every patient, which continuously updates their biological model, shifting from isolated screening episodes to integrated lifetime surveillance. The alliance with Tempus allows Bios Life to utilize Tempus’ de-identified multi-modal oncology datasets to develop and deploy advanced predictive models for a variety of common cancers, transitioning from reactive scans to proactive, predictive modeling. Furthermore, in collaboration with Ambry Genetics, now part of Tempus, Bios Life plans to incorporate genetic screening into its preventive platform along with physician-ordered genetic testing within its survivorship program.

Bios Life's leadership team is composed of seasoned professionals with extensive experience in oncology and health technology. Ryan Richardson, the Co-founder & CEO, previously served as the Chief Strategy Officer of BioNTech. Joining him are Co-founder and Chief Operating & Business Officer Zach Taylor, and Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Logan Frank, MD, a board-certified radiologist.
