Cemvita, a frontrunner in industrial biotechnology focused on establishing a scalable circular bioeconomy, has announced two significant developments aimed at bolstering its ability to translate validated lab results into reliable industrial performance. The company has completed a complementary technology acquisition that broadens its intellectual property and scale-up capacity, alongside appointing Dr. Luciano Zamberlan as Vice President of Operations, who will be based in Brazil. These initiatives are designed to enhance operational readiness and deepen Cemvita’s technical and execution capabilities within the region.

The technology acquisition introduces additional synthetic biology tools and intellectual property, as well as strain expertise that will shorten commercialization timelines. When combined with committed operational leadership on the ground, these enhancements are expected to bolster confidence regarding near-term delivery milestones, commissioning, and consistent product supply within a sustainable value chain.

Cemvita has recently reported notable improvements in FermOil™ bioprocess productivity and received strong third-party validation of FermNatural™ co-product attributes, both of which contribute positively to the project's economics and market positioning. Additionally, the company has progressed the engineering workflow of FermWorks™ with local Brazilian partners towards a Final Investment Decision (FID). Concurrently, Cemvita has advanced its industrial strategy in Rio Grande do Sul, aligning feedstock availability, local infrastructure, and public-sector support to create a clear pathway to commercial operation.

Dr. Luciano Zamberlan will lead the operational execution, site readiness, and early commissioning efforts from Brazil. With over 20 years of biotechnology experience, he previously served as Director of Engineering at Raízen, Brazil’s largest ethanol producer. There, he oversaw large-scale projects from concept to operation, including the implementation of four greenfield plants focused on second-generation ethanol and biogas. His commitment to innovation and sustainability includes integrating multidisciplinary teams to maximize financial outcomes while minimizing environmental impacts.
