AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company, and MBC BioLabs (formerly QB3@953), a life-science incubator, announced they have teamed up to help support and mentor promising startups in the San Francisco Bay Area.From machine learning to synthetic biology and from solid-state batteries to the microbiome, Lux Research published a report that ranks eighteen technologies that are on track to reshape the world.

DSM and Evonik have created a new company, Veramaris, to produce omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from natural marine algae for animal nutrition. In the UK, CustoMem has received a €1.4m grant that will help the company to bring to market its biomaterial, optimised to efficiently capture specific pollutants from waste water.At SLAS 2018 in San Diego, Labcyte launched a new sample management solution that provides a smarter approach to high-throughput screening, and TTP Labtech launched its dragonfly discovery liquid handling technology that helps scientists reduce drug discovery cycle times.
