Intrexon, Epimeron and the University of Calgary reported a huge step in a technology for the commercial production of pain-killing opiates by yeast fermentation, and Calyxt closed a $60.9 million public offering to advance its gene editing technology for agriculture.
A University of Calgary-led research team has discovered the gene for a new protein crucial for producing a compound in opium poppy plants used to make opiate pain-killing drugs.
